John Gabriel MBA

As Founder, President and Chairman of the Board John brings private enterprise management and entrepreneurial experience to BBG Equity Management. John has been effective at identifying market opportunities, developing strategies and methodologies promoting sustainable competitive advantage, as well as building and motivating teams - John has dedicated the past twenty years to the rigorous implementation of proven methodologies and processes that drive organizations to change, and ultimately realignment with corporate strategy, and external environmental forces. John has built and maintained the entire BBG Equity portfolio as well as serving as Strategic Global Delivery Manager for CSC, Sales and Business Development Manger for Acerra, VP Business Development for Creative Shack, and Strategic Business Analyst for Ernst and Young. John started his business career at the age of 22 launching and managing an $11 M international business in the garment industry.


Robert Bryniak

Bob Bryniak is the first Chief Executive Officer of Palm Water LLC, head offices in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Prior to joining Palm Water, Bob spent nearly 3 yrs in Sultanate of Oman as Chief Executive Officer of the Oman Power and Water Procurement, SAOC (“PWP”) where he was involved in establishing operations with a head office in Muscat and a branch office in Salalah. Before arriving in the Middle East, Bob was active in raising seed capital and operating funds for pharmaceutical companies in Canada. Bob was also President & CEO of a publicly traded company in Canada, Environmental Waste International Inc. Bob came to EWI after spending over 20 years with Ontario Hydro and Ontario Power Generation Inc. in Canada. His last position was Vice President of Corporate Services and he was responsible for Facility Management, Real Estate, Procurement, Financial Services and Employee Services. He also held the position of Acting Comptroller for the non-nuclear side of Generation.

Bob Bryniak spent over 20 years teaching part time courses in University, including MBA courses in Managerial Finance and Economics at McMaster University. He has also taught undergraduate courses in Finance, Business and Economics at Ryerson University and York University. He was awarded the "Faculty Award" by McMaster University for 1998-1999 in recognition of his teaching excellence.

David Smith CM,MMLJ,DU

Mr. Smith is an Ottawa based entrepreneur and philanthropist. David has successfully raised over $140 M for various projects across the globe aimed at the betterment of community and humankind. As a successful restaurateur David built and sustained a plethora of businesses across North America.

Leigh Stewart LLB

Mr. Stewart is an associate at the law firm of Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP
since May 2006. Prior thereto, Mr. Stewart was a partner at the law firm of Robinson Stewart since its inception in December 2003. Mr. Stewart began his legal career with Milner Fenerty in 1990 in the energy department. He then worked as an associate lawyer at a corporate securities law firm from 1993 to 2000, and as a sole practitioner from 2000 to 2002. In 2002 to the spring of 2003, Mr. Stewart was seconded to a law firm in Kuwait City providing advice in connection with industrial construction projects and general international business matters. Mr. Stewart has been an officer and director of a number of public oil and gas companies, including as the Vice-President, Finance, Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Secretary and a Director of New Range Resources Ltd., a TSX Venture Exchange listed oil & gas company, and the Corporate Secretary of Eagle Rock Exploration Ltd., also a TSX Venture Exchange listed oil & gas company. Mr. Stewart obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree (Geology) from the University of Alberta (1984) and his Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Western Ontario (1990). Mr. Stewart was admitted to the bar in the Province of Alberta in 1991.

David Croucher CA, CPA

Mr. Croucher has executive and senior financial management experience with public and private companies in various high technology fields. Mr. Croucher is Chief Financial Officer to Liponex Inc., a cholesterol drug development company list on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX). He also acts as CFO to Chemaphor Inc., a nutraceutical and drug development company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange. Mr. Croucher served as Director Finance, for World Heart Corporation, a manufacturer and distributor of medical (heart assist) devices listed on the TSX and NASDAQ National Market. Prior to World Heart Corporation, Mr. Croucher was Director Finance for Akara Corporation, a telecommunications equipment start-up company that was acquired by Ciena Corporation in 2003. Mr. Croucher served nine years in public accounting with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, working in Canada and the United States, focusing on publicly traded and start-up high technology companies.

Trushar S. Patel

Mr. Patel is a Vice President in the Investment Banking Group of Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. in Minneapolis. Prior to joining Oppenheimer, Mr. Patel was an Associate with Goldsmith Agio Helms/Lazard Middle Market arranging M&A transactions for clients engaged in manufacturing, distribution, retail and business services. Mr. Patel’s experience has also included corporate development, treasury and strategy experience with Apogee Enterprises Inc., Deloitte Consulting LLC and Supervalu Inc. Additionally, Mr. Patel spent several years with Enron Corp. focusing on international and domestic structured and project finance transactions ranging in size from $20 million to over $1 billion.

Mr. Patel graduated with High Honors from Carleton University in Canada with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He also holds a Masters Degree in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona.

Shahir Guindi LLB

Partner in the Business Law Department of Osler’s Montreal office and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Practice focuses on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic ventures primarily in the technology and life sciences sector. Acts for many Canadian and US private equity funds in connection with their investments, divestitures and fund formation, investment banks and a range of companies in private and public financings, M&A and strategic arrangements. He is a frequent speaker on matters relating to high growth companies and cross-border corporate finance and merger transactions. Participates on the boards of IT companies and was on the boards of directors of the Canadian IT Law Association and Réseau Inter logiQ. He became a member of the New York and Québec Bars in 1990. Named one of Canada’s “Top 40: 40 and Under 40” in the November/December 2004 issue of Lexpert magazine.

Jonathan Wood

As President and CEO of Mixxmedia, Jonathan has lead Corporate Marketing strategies as well as Creative Direction.

The Executive Board of each of BBG Equity's assets meets monthly to review progress, assess strategic direction and determine appropriate next steps.
